A Sydney Girl At Heart - Postcards From Sydney Australia - Room With A View
The showers have passed and it's a beautiful morning in Sydney Town.
Our hotel is on George Street right next to Central Station.
The view from our hotel room is a typical Sydney scene - building cranes everywhere.
A friend once told me that as a child he observed the number of building cranes on a visit to the city. He asked his parents "when will all the building be finished?" He couldn't understand why they laughed in response to his question.
From a child's perpective he just thought that Sydney would look really lovely when all the cranes had gone and all the tall skyscrapers completed.
Well my friend is in his fifties and I'm sorry to tell him that the building cranes are still here.
Sydney Harbour Bridge, Central Station, the Opera House and building cranes - all part of the landscape of Sydney.
Sydney will always be a work in progress.
