A big hello to anyone out there in the virtual world who might be interested in reading the contemplative ravings of a 49 year old Aussie women. I've been thinking about doing this for sometime. The great thing about ideas is that at the time they are just ideas. Inside your head ideas look perfect and safe but when it comes to putting theoretical ideas into practice well that's the hard part. I have so much to say I hardly know where to start or for that matter; how to start? Being a control freak perfectionist English Literature teacher, I'd like to think that this blog would read like the perfect essay or a great novel (now that's my ego talking) all nice and chronological, but I don't think that's going to happen. Everything I have to say, all my musings and thoughts, well I apologise in advance, dear fellow bloggers, it's all going to come out like molten lava; boiling hot, fast and furious but definitely not 'cool and chronological'.
I named this blog 'The old Bags Blog' in deference to all those middle-aged women like me out there who feel they no longer have a 'voice' and who are no longer taken seriously. We are invisible to advertising agencies, politicians, governments, medical science, doctors (male and female) fashion designers, sales assistants, tradesmen and.......oh gosh I could spend the next year making a list of all the sections of the community who we are invisible to. Boy have I got news for all of the above; what a bunch of schmucks you are. You have designed a world for the young and stupid. You tailor your products and policies for increasingly illiterate and materialistic under 25s. Well we all know the global economy is going down the toilet and tough times are ahead. Sorry to break it to you 'boy's' but the only collateral that your average sweet young thing has is a piece of plastic which is about to melt. Your target audience is about to die and with it their buying power. Us gals are intelligent and savvy. We know what we want, and above all we have buying and voting power! Ignore us at your peril!
