How can we make politicians listen to us?
What is happening to our world? Do you feel angry and frustrated like me? Do you wonder what the state of the world will be in 10 years time? The easy path is to just simplistically blame our politicians, but perhaps we must take some responsibility for the global mess we find ourselves in? When it comes to politicians it's so much easier to just do nothing but to cynically resign them to the same level as car salesmen; slimy, power hungry hypocrites who are simply not to be trusted. Ok we all accept that politicians are controlled by the spin doctor puppet masters and that everything they say has been reduced to finely tuned soundbites. They stand for nothing and they lack real integrity. The only time they evidence any real passion is when they react to positive polling. Who are these dark shady minders, these hidden men who control everything they say and do, and what hold do they have over them? We are so overwhelmed in life, busy making a living and paying the bills. We feel powerless to change the status quo and let's be honest most of the time we're too dammed tired to do anything but bemoan the state of affairs. But something has to change, we have got to change. We must rouse ourselves from our catatonic apathy and realise our power. The question is how do we do this? How do we create a world where our politicians are made accountable and transparent? We need to send them a message that we have had enough of their lies and their blatant corruption. They have underestimated our tolerance and our intelligence. They must start walking the talk instead of just talking the talk. Treat us with respect, tell us the truth, work for the best interest of our communities, rather than their own personal futures and their own personal pockets. We are in for some tough times. Our children and future generations will need leaders with integrity; leaders who stand for something; leaders who are not afraid to make the hard decisions. Give us leaders who inspire us to be better than we are; give us leaders we can believe in again; and above all give us leaders who love their countries more than they love themselves!
